The success of the National Angkasawan Program has led towards realizing the importance of the Space Engineering sector in the country. Ever since the first angkasawan (Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor) was sent into space it boosted, the effort in developing better Science and Technology R&D to spearhead the nation into better economic height that is due to its high technological spin-offs for the country.

Therefore the Malaysian Government is determined to maintain its commitment in the space program by sending the second Angkasawan (Dr. Faiz Khaleed) by 2010 into the high altitudes of space to further enhance relation with the long time and well experienced space fairing nation such as in particularly Russia and the USA.

However it all depends on how efficient is the nation on benefiting from the experience of its Angkasawan program. Its not yet a story of success as most people in the country of Malaysia thinks. It wont be a success until we could be independent in our own space program.
